ShContemporary fourth edition will take place from September 9th to September 12th 2010.
ShContemporary takes place every September in the spectacular Shanghai Exhibition Center in Shanghai, China. The first edition in 2007 immediately established itself as Asia's most dynamic contemporary art fair.
Last September, the show’s new format and a revived Asian art market attracted over 30,000 collectors, artists, curators, and art lovers to China’s most important annual art event.
This year ShContemporary coincides with the largest World Expo the world has ever seen, during which an unprecedented amount of arts projects will be happening all over Shanghai.
ShContemporary 2010 is organised around two key areas:
• Best of Galleries, ShContemporary’s unique selection of invited Asian and International galleries
• DISCOVERIES - This year's theme: Re-Value. A curated, thematic exhibition in a commercial art fair where artistic value confronts commercial value and a Conference called Re-Value: The Construction and Consumption of Value in Contemporary Art.
Mami Kataoka, chief curator at the Mori Musem in Tokyo is collaborating as curator. Joining the curatorial team is Manray Hsu, an independent Taiwanese curator and art critic based in Taipei and Berlin. Both curators are working with Fair Director Colin Chinnery on the Discoveries section; a thematic exhibition that occupies the entire Main Hall, showcasing works by some of the most significant artists who have come to international attention during the past two decades as well as some of the most promising emerging art.
