Chanel has donated the Mobile Art pavilion designed by Zaha Hadid, to the Arab World Institute in Paris.
The "Mobile Art" was created in 2007 for Chanel, at the request of designer Karl Lagerfeld. Its mission was to exalt the Chanel bag, revisited by contemporary artists. It had traveled to Hong Kong, Tokyo and New York in 2008, and never made it to Moscow and Paris due to the world’s economic context.
Hadid’s unique pavilion had been widely appreciated during Mobile Art’s world tour and came to the attention of the World Arab Institute who contacted Chanel to express their interest in it.
The pavilion created by Pritzker winning architect will be the first of her works to land in Paris. It will showcase until October 30th an exhibition with a large selection of her works.
The idea is to keep as long as possible the "Mobile Art" in front of the Arab World Institute and make a place for temporary exhibitions of contemporary Arab creation.
