As one of the city's largest events, the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, features more than 400 acts on 12 stages over the course of seven days. Spread over two weekends, April 21-23 and April 29 - May 2, the festival outlives its namesake with musically-diverse local and international acts, with music ranging from jazz, blues and gospel to rock, funk and zydeco.
Known simply as "Jazz Fest" by locals, this festival has grown from its humble roots in Louis Armstrong Park to attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors from all over the world. The musical lineup will include world-famous performers of all genres. Simon & Garfunkel, Van Morrison, Aretha Franklin, Pearl Jam, and Lionel Richie are all set to play at the 41st annual event, as are Anita Baker, Jeff Beck, Gipsy Kings, The Levon Helm Band, B.B. King, Allman Brothers Band, and Johnny Lang. Louisiana acts include The Neville Brothers, Irma Thomas, Dr. John, and Buckwheat Zydeco.
