From July 25 - August 30th, the oldest and one of the most prestigious festivals in Europe, founded right after the 1st world war in Austria, is celebrating its 90th anniversay in 2010. Mozart remains the most celebrated artist in Salzburg throughout the years, and in 2010, Don Giovanni's author and opera will be celebrated at Haus für Mozart with Yannick Nézet-Séguin directing the Wiener Philharmoniker on August 12, 15, 19, 22, 25 and 29.
Other highlights for this edition comprise Philippe Herreweghe playing Chopin and Schumann for their bicentenary, and a special program dedicated to Johannes Brahms will also be presented. The competing classical festival in Bayreuth will also start on July 25 in Germany, in Wagner's town.
