A new hotel just opened in Sweden, with a unique collection of rooms created in harmony with nature amongst the trees in the forest; The Tree Hotel, a destination for design and nature conscious travelers.
The inspiration came from the documentary film “Trädälskaren” (Treelover) by Jonas Selberg Augustsen. It is the story of three men from the urban environment who look to get back to their roots by building a tree house together.
The concept “live in a tree house” has been handed over to a select group of established modern designers and architects, the rooms of this unusual hotel will range in size and shape -- from a natural-looking bird's nest dangling from the trees to a treetop "Room with a View" cabin resting on a steel structure. Innovative modern design and architecture help relive joyful childhood memories with added comfort and sophistication. Each treeroom is different, four are open now, and there are plans to build 20 more in the next five years. Every treeroom will have a sleeping area and living area and they range from 15 to 30 sq. meters.
Nestled in the village of Harads, some 60 km south of the Arctic Circle, the Tree Hotel will be open all year round, which means that guests will be able to benefit from either hot summers or beautiful winters, when there can be up to 100cm of snow and the temperature outside can be as low as -30°C. Rates differ from room to room, starting from 3,500 SEK (€372) for two and including a breakfast buffet.
