Japan’s idyllic islands provide scenic backdrop for contemporary arts festival

Set against a spectacular backdrop in the Seto Inland Sea in Japan, the Setouchi International Arts Festival is home to a wealth of adventurous contemporary art projects.

The Setouchi International Arts Festival runs from July 19 to October 31 and features the work of 75 artists and architects hailing from 17 countries and regions across the globe.

This year's theme of "Utilize existing elements, and create elements that do not exist" echoes the invited artists' interaction with this unique and culturally rich exhibition site.
